
From time immemorial the religious brotherhoods have always played a fundamental role in Corsican society.
They have maintained a certain number of traditions linked to processions, votive festivals and rituals and carried on the art of hymns.
Through their presence in their robes, by the colour of the little capes on their shoulders by the albs and also the emotional effect of the songs; brotherhoods present throughout Corsica, actively participate in the feeling of belonging to a community and are still today the regulators of social conflicts and mutual aid.
Famous for among others all around the island the holy week processions in Sainte Lucie de Tallano, the medieval “Catenacciu” (stations of the cross) in Sartène and also in Calvi or Calenzana in Balagne, in Piana, Corte or Aleria or again in Saint Martinu de Patrimonio, Cuttoli, Forciolo…
