The East coast, a wild and agricultural area !
To the South of Bastia, there’s a tiny secret and tormented region with perched villages called... Casinca !
Aleria used to be the Roman capital of Corsica. You should have a look at the antique site and visit the Archaeological Museum, at Fort Matra.
More to the north, the Costa Verde, located 40 km south of Bastia and less than two hours away from other remarkable sites on the island, is divided between the sea and the mountains. Its varied landscapes and matchless view on the Tuscan archipelago make it an outstanding place. Beyond the green landscapes and charming well-preserved authentic villages, there’s a real cultural heritage in Costa Verde, notably numerous chapels and churches on the historical register.
Fathom a region being an integral part of its traditions : the Castagniccia (which means the chestnuts region) and live a timeless experience ! Discover a chestnuts forest with some 5-centuries old trees and a multitude of small villages located in a case of greenery between the mountains and the valleys and containing a marvel of both Baroque or Romanesque churches.
