Aleria used to be the Roman capital of Corsica. You should have a look at the antique site and visit the Archaeological Museum, at Fort Matra.

You’ll love the spectacle of wild nature on the shores of Diana pond to the north and Urbino pond to the south, both renowned oyster-farming places. Naturists crave the immense fine sand beaches and the numerous village holidays all along.

If you need some coolness, drive on the beautiful road of Inzecca narrow gorge to Ghisoni, at the foot of two remarkable peaks, Christie Eleison and Kyrie Eleison. There, you’ll find many swimming spots, like the natural pools formed by Fium’Orbu River, above the lake.

Don’t miss the Genoese Mela bridge, just before the village, near the Vecchia Mina, the old mine. The region is a hot spot for hikers, who can set out for Monte Renoso, Batiani Lake and the pozzines right above the Capanelle ski resort.
