The Gulf of Galeria
The famous D81 road starts off from this tiny fishermen’s village. Although the road was recently renovated, it hasn’t lost its charm. Leave the village and drive along the Fango Valley, its natural pools, Pirui and Filosorma Forests, and driving up the scrub to the Palmarella Pass, situated 400 meters high. The road winds its way upwards, then downwards, and sometimes you’ll find yourself face to face with a bus right by a breathtaking high cliff. You must stop to take pictures and enjoy the towering view over the Scandola nature reserve and the small Girolata harbour. Brave hikers get there by following the Mare e Monti path, either from there, or from the Croix Path right above the village of Osani.
