Economy and tourism in Corsica

Tourism makes up the most important activity of Corsica, with 2 million visitors annually.

Most of the tourist are French coming from the Paris an Nice regions. Foreign clients are mostly Italian and German.
Family oriented tourism predominates and the client who come to Corsica is up-market in comparison to other areas the length of their holiday is longer even if it tends to be shortening.
The total capacity is 400,000 beds of which 60% is holiday homes.
The zone which attracts the most is Porto-Vecchio with 70% over night stays with the Ajaccio region and Balagne following.
Corsican tourism is Summer only and the concentration of the stays is on two months of July and August but more and more it’s extending from May to October.
The coast line is very popular only 1/5 tourist holiday in the central regions even if it tends to evolve.
Hospitality is a great quality of the inhabitants who known how to receive and be friendly
