Water is abundant on the island, because the mountain forms a barrier attracting strong rains in volume as well as snow all on the high summits

Water flow:
All streams and rivers from West to East are irregular, thin in June to October and heavy in October to April.
Besides the streams, the hydrographical plan is made up of many water sources alimented by rains which in the dry season, are left dry rock but once the storms arrive can became abundant and dangerous.
The multiple springs and rivers and 40 streams irrigate all the territory. This abundance of water explains the lush vegetation.
Rain:
The rains can be short and heavy, but they’re not frequent, less than 100 days of rain per year. The summits are often snow caped in Winter but the most frequented are often cleared by the snow machines in the case of Vizzavona pass (1,161 meters) on the national rood between Bastia and Ajaccio. Summer is the dry season and the rain spread throughout the rest of the year.
