Sampieru Corsu and the French

In 1552, Henry the 2nd, King of France launches an attack on the Italian peninsula and because of its geographical position, Corsica find itself involved in the torment.


In 1553 the Kings army lead by Colonel Sampieru Corsu seized Bastia, Corte, Ajaccio and Calvi. Only a few days where necessary t make Corsica a French land. The colonel stayed a symbolic person of the combat against the Genoese. His popularity wasn't enough to save the French victory. By the treaty of "Château Cambresis" in April 1559, France returned Corsica to the Genoese. Corsicans once again found their enemy.
