Have a stop at "Tonnara" beach, a place known by all the kitesurf and windsurf lovers...

As you leave Bonifacio, take the road to Sartène. A few kilometres on is the beach of Tonnara, a place known by kitesurf and windsurf lovers (with Piantarella on the other side of the island).

A little further on, standing majestically and keeping watching over the horizon is the enigmatic Lion of Roccapina, a rock petrified by the wind and the seaspray with a feline appearance.

From there, the road makes its way into the interior of the island, the beautiful valley of Rizzanese and comes out in Sartène.

Sartène, looking a little bit austere, is a town marked with tradition and famous for its procession the ‘Catenacciu’ (Good Friday). It’s also a very pleasant and hospitable town for those who take the time to discover it, to stroll in its unending paving-stoned narrow streets, to admire the granitic architecture of its houses before inevitably reaching the Piazza Porta, epicentre of the city life.

If you are interested in archeology, numerous prehistoric sites can be visited : the menhirs rows of “Stantari”, “Rinaghjiu”, “Palaggiu” (Cauria site, in the north east of the gulf of Tizzano, with 250 monoliths, the biggest in the Mediterranean). As you go through the dolmen of “Funtanaccia”, called the “Stazzona di u Diavuli” (the devils forge) let yourself be taken over by the mysticism of a magic island in the depth of the “maquis”...

As you leave Sartène, make a detour in the direction of Sainte Lucie de Tallano (the D268 then D69) to admire one of the oldest bridges of the island (XIII century) the “horse’s back” Spin'a Cavallu : a real architectural feat defying time from the XIII century.

Direction Propriano, the gulf of Valinco and its unspoiled and white sandy beaches : Campomoro, Porto-Pollo, Baraci (as a spa)...

Propriano, a well-known seaside resort with numerous water-based activities, is the best spot to stop and make it the center for excursions inland, especially to visit the magnificent valley of Olmeto and why not start a hike on the GR20.
