Porto Vecchio

Corte, its emblematic citadel in an eyrie, housing the Corsican Regional museum, the rampart walk, the panoramic viewpoint.

Discover this town steeped in the omnipresence of Pascal Paoli, the national hero, an emblematic figure of Corsican nationalism, and after whom the university was named.

Once you have visited the former capital of the island, take the RN 200 to Aleria. This road winds its way along the Tavignano river and Genoese bridges, good for a stroll, and comes out on the flat open country of the east coast, one of the most cultivated regions in Corsica, with its orchards its vineyards and olive trees…

Aleria, an ancient and famous Roman city, with its museum located in the beautiful fort of Matra and with archeological excavations still being carried out.

Then off in the direction of Solenzara, which is where the long beach, starting in Bastia, of the east coast ends and where the granite and indented coast of the south begins.

Not to be missed:

The opportunity of a wonderful breakaway into the mountains : to climb the peaks of the Bavella, an unforgettable sight. Do not hesitate to take the time to stop and “contemplate” the landscape and don’t forget that on Corsican roads there are some bends and some bends more !

Then continue with Zonza, a haven of freshness, a crossroads for numerous hikes.

Then passing through the forest of Ospedale (11,111.79 acres) in the Alta Rocca region : you’ll arrive in Porto-Vecchio.

Porto Vecchio is one of the most visited seaside resorts in Corsica, due to its beautiful gulf… and it really wellcomes lots of people during summer time !

If you like glamour, dazzle and jet set : you’ll certainly enjoy Porto-Vecchio ! There are many luxury hotels, villas, restaurants, ice-cream parlours, discos…In the same way, there is also Bonifacio but we will see that tomorrow evening…
