As you leave Propriano, in the north of Porto Pollo, there is a wonderful and timeless little beach...
Let yourself be drawn towards the interior along the "Taravo" river to discover the prehistoric site of Filitosa and its famous menhir statues, a unique site on the origins of Corsica and its first inhabitants from the Neolithic period up to the Roman period.
Not to be missed:
Whether you are or not enthusiasts of old ruins, this mysterious site worth the detour to immerse yourself into the heart of prehistoric time and its artistic remains.
From Filitosa there are two ways to join Ajaccio :
if you want to have a look at the “maquis”, the forests or the villages of the interior you should take the RN 196 and go through the villages of Petreto-Bicchisano, Grossetto, St Georges pass and Cauro.
if you would rather go back towards the sea take the D157 at Filitosa and then the D55. You will go along this magnificent coast till Porticcio before arriving in Ajaccio the imperial town.
Not to be missed:
We recommend you a stop at the “Castagna” tower for its view.
Ajaccio spreads out along the gulf : its sandy beach and palm trees will accompany you right to the centre of the town where Napoléon was born and of whom it retains steadfast memories.
