The memory of Bonaparte who was to become Emperor as well as that of his family remains steadfast...

The memory of Bonaparte who was to become Emperor as well as that of his family remains steadfast, he is present everywhere downtown throughout his statues, the names of the streets, the squares and the museums including the Bonaparte home, the “Napoléon” museum, the Imperial chapel…

It also has a rich heritage with the “Fesch” museum which houses the most beautiful collection of Italian paintings after the Louvre (to be seen!)

You can also visit the “Capitellu” museum or “A Bandera” museum before going off to wander through the narrow streets of the old town, as far as the citadel ramparts to join the old port and its Mediterranean atmosphere.

You will be delighted by Ajaccio with its gulf evoking everlasting holidays…

Ajaccio has some remarkable environmental assets.

You can choose, as you leave the town between the “Sanguinaire” islands, a paradise for sea birds and dolphins, famous for its sunset which as it slips down into the sea make the rocks glow red (an unforgettable sight !!!) and the 16 beaches surrounding Ajaccio with evocative names such as “Trottel”, “Lazaret”, “Scudo” or “Terre Sacrée” (Holy Land) and many more besides…

With so many cultural beauties and water sports activities, you just cannot forget the town where Napoléon was born !

Not to be missed :

St Erasme church (the patron saint of fishermen) with its miniature boats hanging in the nave.

To be seen : the lovely “Diamant” square

Do not hesitate to wander off in the Sanguinaires to reach Capo di Feno and its awe-inspiring beaches with scents that are out of this world.
